Customisation is quick and easy. The Mirage 2000 D is a conventional ground-attack version developed from the nuclear-attack Mirage 2000 N. The first flight of the Mirage 2000 D prototype, a modified Mirage 2000N, took place in 1991. The aircraft is equipped with latest-generation flight controls, enabling it to carry out high-precision attack missions in all weathers and at low altitude, using specialized laser-guided weapons or cruise missiles. It is equipped with terrain-following radar and an ultra-modern cockpit. The first production aircraft made its maiden flight in 1993. It entered operational service in 1995. 86 Mirage 2000 Ds have been produced to date. The mid-life refurbishment includes the fitting of touch screens and new software for greater flexibility in the use of the weapons system. It also offers better integration of crews in complex airborne missions. The Mirage 2000 D RMV is also equipped with the MICA infrared self-defense and air combat missile. The aircraft can ire GBU-49 bombs. In addition, a 30 mm cannon integrated into a container can be mounted under the fuselage.
