The Rafale omnirole combat aircraft is produced in single-seat and two-seat versions. Different models are made for the Air and Space Force and the Navy, although 95% of the components are shared. The Rafale C is the single-seat version for the Air Force, with capabilities that enable it to perform all types of missions (omnirole aircraft). With a 9,500 kg external load capacity and multipurpose armaments system, the Rafale C can carry out a broad range of different missions requiring the use of various types of specialist equipment: air superiority and air defence, air support, long-range strikes, aerial reconnaissance, anti-shipping strikes, nuclear deterrence, etc. In service with the Air and Space Force since 2006, the Rafale has proved itself in combat in Afghanistan (Operation Enduring Freedom), Libya (Operation Harmattan) and more recently in the fight against terrorism in the Sahel (Operation Serval), as well as in Iraq and Syria from Jordan and the United Arab Emirates (Operation Chammal). The Rafale has also been exported to Egypt, Qatar, India, Greece, Croatia, the United Arab Emirates and Indonesia. The RSD livery was applied during the 2021 demonstration season. The graphic design was created by Régis Rocca and brought to life by the personnel of the ESTA 15.004 Haute Marne Structural Workshop stationed at Airbase 113, Saint-Dizier. The 2021 demonstration season was performed by Captain Jérôme Thoule, call sign “Schuss”, flight instructor with the ETR 3/4 Aquitaine Rafale transformation squadron, under the supervision of Captain Sébastien Nativel (“Babouc”), the demonstration pilot in 2018-2019.
